Technical Details

This Trojan downloads files via the Internet without the user's knowledge or consent.

The Trojan itself is a Windows PE EXE file, written in Assembler. It is not packed in any way, and is 1536 bytes in size.

Payload

Once launched, the Trojan downloads a file from the following URL:

http://***wildx.by.ru/3.exe

This file will be saved as ret.exe to the root directory of the current disk. The Trojan then launches this file for execution and ceases running.

At the time of writing, the link was not working.

Removal instructions

  1. Delete the original Trojan file (its location depends on how it originally penetrated the victim machine).
  2. Check for a file named ret.exe in the root directory of all disks. Delete this file.
  3. Update your antivirus databases and perform a full scan of the computer (download a trial version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus).

Once downloaded from the Internet, the programs are launched or included on a list of programs which will run automatically when the operating system boots up.

Information about the names and locations of the programs which are downloaded are in the Trojan code, or are downloaded by the Trojan from an Internet resource (usually a web page).

This type of malicious program is frequently used in the initial infection of visitors to websites which contain exploits.
