Technical Details

This Trojan downloads files from the Internet and launches them without the user's knowledge. It is a Windows application (PE EXE file) and is 16 896 bytes in size. It is packed using an unknown packer. The unpacked file is approximately 47 KB in size and is written in C++.

Payload

Once launched, the Trojan carries out the following actions:

  • It creates the following system registry keys:
    [HKCU\Software\Mozilla]
    "affid" = "224"
    "subid" = "new"

  • It downloads a file from the Internet via one of the following links:
    http://dive***ywebgo.cn/setup/ad_64.exe
    http://topd***sion.cn/setup/ad_64.exe
    http://div***ywebgo.cn/setup/setup.exe
    http://to***sion.cn/setup/setup.exe

  • The downloaded file is saved in the current user's temporary files directory "%Temp%" using a random name. Once downloaded, the file is launched for execution. At the time of writing, these links were inactive.
After this, the Trojan ceases running, at the same time deleting its original file.

Information about the names and locations of the programs which are downloaded are in the Trojan code, or are downloaded by the Trojan from an Internet resource (usually a web page).

This type of malicious program is frequently used in the initial infection of visitors to websites which contain exploits.
