Cross-Site ScriptingCross-Site Scripting vulnerabilities allow a third party to manipulate the content or behaviour of a web application in a user's browser, without compromising the underlying system. Different Cross-Site Scripting related vulnerabilities are also classified under this category, including "script insertion" and "cross-site request forgery". Cross-Site Scripting vulnerabilities are often used against specific users of a website to steal their credentials or to conduct spoofing attacks. |
| Description |
A vulnerability has been reported in the Display Suite module for Drupal, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks. Certain input is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious data is being viewed. Successful exploitation requires a contributed module being installed that alter usernames e.g. the realname module and the author field must be displayed as plain text "author". The vulnerability is reported in 7.x-1.x versions prior to 7.x-1.7 and 7.x-2.x versions prior to 7.x-2.1. |
